KETTERING TOWN SILVER BAND - Timeline
1871 Kettering Town Silver Band is established.
1883 Mr Randolph Ryan takes up the position as Conductor.
1891 The Band compete in seventeen contests, gaining fourteen first and three second prizes. The prize money, in addition to cups and medals, totals £187 and 3 shillings.
1892 Out of 23 contests attended, the positions secured are 11 firsts, 10 seconds, 1 third and 1 unplaced. The band win the Champion Gold Medal for England and Wales for the band totalling the highest number of points for the whole year's contesting.
1916 Jack Woolley leads the band and Mr Fred Mortimer of Fodens Motor Work Band is professional conductor.
1939 - 1945 During the Second World War a skeleton band remains.
1946 The band is rebuilt under the leadership of Mr W. Houghton. After a period the band secures the services of Mr J Partridge, as conductor, who leads the band to success at local contests.
1971 Mr Albert Roberts becomes Musical Director.
1973 The band gains second prize in the Midland area qualifying finals in Leicester in April.
2014 The Band is still running today and are looking for new players to come and join us.
